We have the newest vintage of another Italian wine from the Kirkland brand hitting shelves right now, the Chianti Classico Riserva.
The first digit in the price is finally making a move. This bottle was $7.99 for a while, then $8.99 up until the last vintage, finally reaching its current $9.49.
That still remains of course an excellent price for Chianti Classico wines.
This marks the 11th vintage of this wine that we've tasted and reviewed for the site. Mid to high 80 point rankings throughout that time:

It's been a fun wine to taste, but nothing that sparks us to want to stock up. Our string of 86 point ratings is going to continue with this new 2023 vintage, which is very familiar from years past.
In the glass, this wine is a pale to medium ruby with dark fruit, earth and leather aromas; it's a medium bodied wine with firm tannins; flavors of black cherry, blackberry, plum; secondary notes of spice, oak and leather; finishes dry.
A perfect complement to a nice mid week Italian meal. Totally a fair buy at this price, but if you go up in the $14-$18 range there are some really killer wines out there from Chianti Classico that might be more interesting.
