It's been a little while since we've tasted and reviewed a new Costco Malbec and this was a perfect choice, being both a Gran Reserva, and on sale for half off Costco's normal price.
This is a wine we've seen before, granted a few years ago and in the Reserva form (not Gran Reserva). The price on the Reserva is the same as the discounted price on this Gran Reserva.
But note, there's a clue. As Costco often secretly does, the sale price sometimes becomes the standard price following the discount period, which ends on 5/4 in this case.

In this case, they posted the regular placard in addition to the sale one, so seems like they tipped their hand that this one is going to be $9.99 regardless of when you buy it.
It's a delicious wine too that is predominantly Malbec (97%) but also contains 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is a dark deep purple in the glass, earthy aromas with dark fruit; in the mouth it is full bodied and big with flavors of black fruit, blueberry, plum; spicy into the finish.
A very nice wine with some age built in at a great price. If you see it for the discounted price, might be worth locking a few in, but it looks like a clear indication this one might be around for only $9.99 moving forward which is a treat.
