We almost passed on this one but some of the detail on the Costco placard caught our eye. And it turns out we couldn't be happier we gave this Malbec a shot.
The 92 points from Wine Spectator along with naming this bottle #30 on their top 100 wines list for 2024 (sign mistakenly says 2004) is what piqued our interest.

Costco's price of $18.99 is the same as Total Wine but a little less than other outlets we found online selling it for $20-$24 a bottle.
In the glass, this wine is a medium purple with aromas of dark fruit and herbs; the wine is medium to medium plus in body with integrated tannins; flavors of black cherry, blackberries, and plum; good, dry lasting finish.

Overall, a nicely balanced, restrained and elegant Malbec that ranks among the best Malbecs we've tasted in a while (maybe since this one).
For value, the recently reviewed Kirkland Malbec at $6.99 remains hard to beat too.

I always buy this when I see it. Solid, reliable Malbec.

Kaiken Ultra is always a great value. When it’s at Costco I always grab some, even though Malbec isn’t really my thing (unless I’m getting Five Guys. Trust me. Do it.).
