This snazzy label caught our eye, and we were surprised when the wine turned out to be a Vermentino. Especially considering the $12.99 price tag at Costco. What a find.
Online this wine is selling for $20-22, and it doesn’t always come with the special bottle design. We didn’t find a lot of ratings for the 2022 vintage, but previous vintages have pulled down quite a few 90+ point scores.
We love Italian whites, the more offbeat, the better, and Costco has really done a good job of keeping a fresh lineup of new and interesting whites for 2023, including wines like this Vermentino. If you’ve never tasted Vermentino, here’s a perfect entry point at a great price.
On the pour the wine is a deep straw color, with citrus on the nose; flavors of green apple, lemon and white peach; good minerality into a crisp and delicious finish.
This one goes down easy and fast. A great Costco wine find, and at this price, we plan on going back to grab a few more to have on hand.

Unlikely this one will make its way up north to the Twin Cities… Any chance we’ll get a review on the Kirkland 2018 Brunello di Montalcino?

Of course. The minute we find it. Looked today but not here yet. Always a favorite.

The label plays on the double meaning of "la pettegola" in Italian: (1) the girl who gossips; (2) the common redshank, a Eurasian marsh bird with a loud piping call, silhouetted on the wineglass-shaped face.

@icexprof, It's a horrible label. If I didn't read the review I wouldn't buy it because of the label.

Sadly, a fat chance of it finding its way to our location...
