Here’s a great Italian wine find right now in the aisles at Costco.
Right away, we see that price ending in .49, which we’ve written about several times before. That indicates a special Costco price, and that’s indeed what we have here. This bottle is $19.99 at Wine.com, and hovers around $16-$17 most other places we found.
The producer, Viberti, is also a big time player in the world of Barolo, so grabbing what is more of their “entry level” bottle is likely a safe bet. 91 points from Wine Spectator as well.
As we got into tasting this bottle, it was just what we hoped. Medium to dark ruby in the glass, vibrant aromas and packed with nice dark fruit flavor; some blackberry, blueberry and even a touch of cranberry leading into the wonderful finish with nice acidity.
This is just the type of bottle we are looking for at Costco. A varietal slightly off the beaten path which we would consider Barbera to be for many, highly rated, top producer at a great price. Saluti.

Always love your blog and posts. Hoping I see this one in Northern Virginia. Wondering if you saw Lettie Teague's article yesterday in WSJ(at least dated 3/8;I saw it in Apple News) on some of the producers behind some of the Kirkland Signature wines. Interesting.

Thanks Gregg. And yes I saw the story. Lettie is great and always spot on my opinion. She has featured our blog is some of her previous Costco wine stories. She did a great job diving into the Kirkland producers. We learned a lot.
