It’s always fun to run into one of these Langhe Nebbiolos. It’s not an everyday occurance at Costco, maybe a handful a year. The last one we tasted and reviewed was very nice.
As we mentioned in that review, outside of the amazing Kirkland Barolo, finding good Barolo under $30 is hard to come by. Enter Lange Nebbiolo, this time coming in at $15.99, which compares to an online price we saw anywhere from $22-$33.
We really enjoy the varietal because it is light in the mouth but packed with flavor and acidity, and that’s exactly what we found with this one.
Ruby in the glass, floral with red fruit and anise on the nose; medium bodied with nice tannins and acidity; flavors of raspberry, plum, sour cherry; dry, herbal in the finish. Just exactly what we expected this wine to deliver.
The wine definitely changed with some air, so we’d recommend a 20-30 minute decant to get it going. Overall a very nice Italian wine pick at a good price, and one that is super food friendly.
