I reviewed this wine more than a year ago, and really enjoyed it then at a price point of $14.99. I was a little surprised to see the same wine, same vintage, back at Costco just this week with a price tag of almost half of the old one, only $8.99. So it was an easy decision to pick one up and see if it impressed me as much as it did back in November of 2013.
The short answer is no, it didn’t impress me as much but it still remains a solid wine, especially at this price. I gave it 90 points back then, and am going to bring that down to 88 now, which means this is still a great wine. It’s solid all around, nothing funky like you might expect from an inexpensive CA Chardonnay. Nice balance, easy drinking, not too much oak; the fruit has a chance to come through.
Still a good wine, and a good buy. 88 points from me though this time.
