I’m happy to see Cambria wines back at Costco. They seemed to have disappeared from the stores near me for a while. My first spotting was back in November when I found and reviewed the excellent 2012 Julia’s Vineyard Pinot, which offers big time value for under $20. This Chardonnay, priced at $16.99, carries that same theme of nicely structured wines at really good prices.
This wine opened with a nose of citrus fruit combined with a light herbalness. The fruit continued to shine through with more flavors of green apple, pineapple and perhaps a bit of apricot; the finish brought a touch of butter and cream in a nice balance with everything else, resulting in a finish you’d expect from a more expensive Chardonnay. Overall, a very nice, food friendly wine.
