Every year, Wine Spectator magazine releases their top 100 wines of the year, and when they do these wines generally fly off shelves. So the big question: which of these wines does Costco carry?
Here's a list we started, and we will add to it as we see more. Feel free to add any others from the list that you've seen at your local warehouse in the comments below (along with location).
The following bottles we have found at Costco stores around the Atlanta area in the past 12 months.
#18 2012 Condado de Haza Ribera del Duero (available now for $18, great buy)
#22 2010 Cune Rioja Gran Reserva (we reviewed Crianza, not Gran Reserva)
#32 2014 Intrinsic Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley
#42 2014 Viña Montes Cabernet Sauvignon Colchagua Valley Classic Series
#43 2015 St.-Cosme Côtes du Rhône
#52 2013 Bodegas Palacios Remondo Rioja La Montesa Crianza
#58 2013 Castello di Monsanto Chianti Classico Riserva (we reviewed the '10 and the '12)
#65 2007 La Rioja Alta Rioja 904 Gran Reserva (haven't seen this vintage but Costco carried the '01, '04 and '05)
#74 2014 Bodega Norton Malbec Mendoza Reserva

I am most familiar with the Cune Rioja Gran Reserva as it showed up in my local Costco in limited quantities several months ago. I was a little cautious and thought I would try a bottle before committing to more---think it was 22 or 23 a bottle. The old story: I tried a bottle and thought it was great and well worth the price, and when I returned the remaining bottles had disappeared. The Crianza was there, at a cheaper price, but not the Rioja Gran Reserva. Glad to see the W.S. apparently enjoyed it as much as I did.

Thanks for the note Joe, that's good to know.

Costco in El Paso has carried different vintages of Fattoria di Felsina Chianti Classico Berardenga, also the Riserva.

I have seen the "Occultum Lapidem" version of M. Chapoutier Côtes du Roussillon-Villages Les Vignes de Bila-Haut for $24 at Costco in Albuquerque.

Thanks so much for letting everyone know. Those are two I'd love to try, so will keep an eye out near me.

The Crianza was our house wine for a couple of years. Everyone loved it, from my 91 year old mother to my fortish daughter. Then it was gone. Picked a couple of bottles of the Gran Reserva this year and didn't care much for it. Not the first sip, or after an hour, or three or the next day. That Crianza is a real winner in taste and price!

The following have been or are at the Madison, WI west location:
#45 Charles Smith Riesling Ancient Lakes of the Columbia Valley Kung Fu Girl Evergreen 2015 $9.99. They had the 2013 and 2014 in the past, which were also highly rated.
#51 M. Chapoutier Cotes Du Roussillon-Villages Les Vignes De Bila-Haut 2014 $9.99
We also have had the Bodegas Norton Malbec at our location. I believe it goes for around $12.99.
WS also lists the 100 top values in the same issue. The following wines from that list are at the Madison West location, prices are approximate, as they are from memory:
Pewsey Vale Riesling Eden Valley Dry 2015. Price is around $12.99.
Chateau Ste. Michelle-Dr. Loosen Riesling Columbia Valley Eroica 2014. Also around $12.99.
Castle Rock Pinot Noir California California Cuvee 2013. Around $8.99.
Gerard Bertrand Syrah-Grenache Languedoc 2014. Around $9.99

A quick correction to my post, as I was just out at our Costco and checked prices, the Chateau Ste. Michelle Eroica is priced at $15.99, not $12.99. Must have been wishful thinking on my part. 🙂
