New Kirkland Signature Wines We’d Love To See At Costco

New Kirkland Signature Wines We’d Love To See At Costco

There have been some really nice additions to the Kirkland wine portfolio in recent years.

Notably a few that come to mind:

Kirkland Signature Vacqueyras

That’s a heck of a list from some of the world’s premier wine regions. And the crazy thing is that the Kirkland bottles listed above are all under $20-$25 while many of the entry level wines from these regions would be much more expensive.

That’s why we shop here, for wine and everything else. We can’t help but think of other “dream bottles” we’d like to see under the Kirkland brand.

Here are a few that we would love to see, along with some notes and price targets.

Kirkland Signature Albarino: ideally from Rias Baixas, and priced under $12.

Kirkland Signature Gruner Veltliner: Or Gru-vee as it’s known, is one of our favorite white wines. We want this one to be from Austria and come in under $14.

Kirkland Signature Priorat: one of Spain’s top regions, delicious reds; price target $19.99

Kirkland Signature Barossa Shiraz: a choice from Australia could go a few different ways, but a Barossa Shiraz might be best. Target price $10-12.

Kirkland Signature Vermentino: again, lots of varieties to choose from when it comes to Italian whites, but we think a Vermentino for around $10-12 would crush it.

Kirkland Signature Douro Red Blend: this would be a blend from Portugal, that would include Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz. Price $10-12.

Kirkland Signature Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon: we see a lot of the Napa regions represented, why not Paso Robles. We’d love to find something that tastes like Justin or Daou for $10-12.

Kirkland Signature Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon: or Atlas Peak, or Diamond Mountain. This would be a Napa mountain wine that would be a good addition to the Kirkland portfolio. Especially if they can bring it in under $25.

Kirkland Signature Nuits St Georges 1er Cru: we picked Nuits St Georges because we love wines from that area, but it’d be amazing if Costco released a solid premier cru red Burgundy for a good price ($25)

That’s our starter list. There’s so many other great places to explore, including Chile, Argentina, South Africa, New Zealand, Greece, Uruguay, Virginia / Texas / NY in the US, Canada, Moldova, Lebanon…the list goes on.

Just returned from Chile - definitely could enjoy a Carmenere joining the Kirkland ranks!

I'd just like to find the KS wines they already make at a Costco near me. I live in one of the biggest cities in the US and the wine selection at my local Costco is extremely disappointing.

How about a red mountain cab for under $20

Love your list!

I’d like to see a Kirkland Signature Montepulciano d’Abruzzo – ideally to replace the consistently disappointing Chianti Classico Riserva! One would think that with their sourcing capabilities they could offer a really good one for well under $10. Perhaps a Vino Nobile de Montepulciano too as more of a premium offering, in, say, the $12-15 range?

IMHO the single best Kirkland wine year in and year out is their Côtes-du-Rhône Villages. So as long as we’re making a wish list, how about a white version too? White CDR’s are unsung heroes, especially when they contain higher percentages of Rousanne, Marsanne or Viognier.

Great suggestions. I am a bog fan of South African wine where I believe there is very good quality at a good value. I especially would like to see a good South African Shiraz.
