We’re hot from just having found the Cune Gran Reserva Rioja at Costco, and now we find this very affordable Rioja where the quality really surprised us at this price point.
Good drinkable red wine under $10 that doesn’t come from the Kirkland brand is hard to find. Costco’s a good place to look as we can frequently uncover value gems like this.
We didn’t see a lot of information on this wine online, but a retail price that looks to be around $12-$15. Only ratings we could find were from Suckling who went 91 points.
This wine is a deep ruby in the glass with juicy red fruit on the nose; it is medium plus to full in body with grippy tannins; there’s a nice contrast of red and dark fruit flavor; black cherry, raspberry and blackberry; toasted oak, vanilla in the finish.
Definitely not your typical $7 bottle of red. Rather a pleasant surprise, and a wine, that if you enjoy as much as we did, is one to snag by the case.
