It's always a treat to see new bottles from Toro arriving at Costco as this region consistently delivers high quality wines at fantastic prices; and this bottle is the perfect example of that.
This wine is made from 100% Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo), and Toro ranks right there with Rioja and Ribera del Duero as Tempranillo powerhouses in Spain. If you like Rioja and Ribera wines, you'll probably love these Toro bottles as well.

This wine pulled down 90 points from Wine Spectator and 91 points from Wine Enthusiast. Retail appears to be around $25 so Costco's $15.99 price tag is pretty impressive.
And the wine is amazing; it pours a medium to deep ruby in the glass, herbal nose; medium plus body with flavors of black cherry, blackberry; notes of leather, anise, vanilla; nice acidity, good black peppery spice and a superb finish.

A nicely made, balanced and elegant wine that we're going to score higher than the critics this time around. A solid 92 points from us and a place on our Top Picks list.

It may be worth noting (to some of us geeks...) that it is a stablemate (or 2nd wine) of a famed French producer of Bordeaux "royalty" - the Lurton family, in partnership with top winemaker/consultant Michel Rolland. Their flagship red from this Toro venture is retailing around $70.
I will certainly give it a try.
