It was this time last year when we first caught a glimpse of the new branding for the Kirkland Rioja, using the JME Seleccion badging.
The price on this bottle seems to keep bouncing around in between $6.99 and $7.99, going back on toward the $8 range with the 2021 vintage. Anywhere under $10 and this wine remains a screaming bargain.

The producer, Bodegas Eguia, remains the same as we've always seen, and the wine does too. We've landed in the high 80's, almost 90 for this wine every year, and that's where we will continue with the new 2021 vintage.
Our scores over the years:
2010 Kirkland Rioja: 88 points
2012 Kirkland Rioja: 87 points
2013 Kirkland Rioja: 88 points
2014 Kirkland Rioja: 88 points
2015 Kirkland Rioja: 88 points
2016 Kirkland Rioja: 88 points
2017 Kirkland Rioja: 89 points
2018 Kirkland Rioja: 89 points
2019 Kirkland Rioja, 89 points
2020 Kirkland Rioja: 89 points
89 is right where this one belongs, and tasting notes on this new vintage are very much in line with prior years.

The wine is a medium ruby in the glass; aromatic nose of red and dark fruit, earthy, oak; medium in body, with bold flavors of black cherry and plum; dry throughout with notes of oak, vanilla, and spice.
Just what we expect from this bottle that continues to be one of the better value buys in the Kirkland wine portfolio. Stock up while you can.

This one is indeed delicious. They also sell them at the Cotsco en Zona Río (Tijuana, near the border), and it is slightly cheaper. I think I paid close to 5 bucks. Good stuff. Fun to drink.

It is indeed a delicious wine! Just because it is $7.69 (Nashville TN area), it does not mean that it has to be rated less than 90. An Inexpensive wine can be very good or excellent, just like an expensive wine can be terrible.

I be honest costco has during the year non kirkland roiijas with price drops to around $10 from 18.99 or 19.99 which are so much better like the Castillo logrono that i only buy 1 or 2 of that kirkland
