Let's keep the Italian reds rolling a bit longer. Here's an organic Montepulciano d'Abruzzo we are seeing at Costco for the first time.
Costco's price is $18.79 and as we've written about before, that .79 at the end indicates this is a special price for Costco. It looks like most outlets online are selling this closer to $25.

This wine is a deep ruby in the glass; fruit-forward with blackberry, plum, and cherry flavors; medium plus to full in body; herbal and earthy notes with soft tannins and a spicy, peppery finish.
This is a perfect food friendly, or pizza night wine that remains interesting with every drink.

Happy to see these bottles grace Costco shelves, making it easy to explore the wonderful world of Italian wines beyond the more common Chiantis and Super Tuscans (although we love those too).

Spent a couple weeks in Utah over New Years where we have a place part-time. Utah is a controlled liquor state with sales only through state outlets. Trust me. All of us Costco shoppers with wine in our stores are very lucky. Not seeing wine in Costco's Utah stores is like not seeing milk in Publix or Kroger.......

Isn’t the region Abruzzo and the grape Montepulciano? Your explanation is a bit confusing if so…

you're right, that wasn't super clear. Let's have Gemini explain:
Montepulciano (Grape): A popular red grape variety, often the base for the famous Abruzzo wine.
Montepulciano (Town/Region): A town in Tuscany that makes wines (like Vino Nobile di Montepulciano) predominantly from the Sangiovese grape, not Montepulciano.
Montepulciano d'Abruzzo (Wine): The specific wine from the Abruzzo region, made mainly from the Montepulciano grape, distinct from the Tuscan wines.
