We always love seeing those limited time discount signs when we’re approaching the Costco wine aisle. From a distance we could tell this one was in the Pinot section, and we planned on buying it no matter what.
Turned out it happened to be a bottle we had yet to review (or so we thought) from Acacia. A quick search of the site though turned up a really old review of the 2013 vintage of this wine from a contributor. We felt many of those comments lived on in this latest offering.
The price with the discount lands at $12.99, just a few bucks more than the Kirkland Carneros, which runs mediocre most years in our opinion. We’d definitely opt for this one instead.
In the glass this wine is a medium ruby leaning on the darker side; pleasant nose, fresh red berries and spice; in the mouth are flavors of red fruit flavor, raspberry dominant, strawberry, cherry; touch of vanilla, solid finish.
We were really surprised by the quality in this $13 package. Definitely not what you find every day. We’d recommend grabbing a few while you still can with this attractive discount.

I had this wine in the past and the quality is just mediocre. I guess for the price it's ok.

I tried this wine several weeks ago. I really wanted to like it since Acacia had been one of my favorite Carneros wineries before it was sold multiple times. In all honesty, I think this wine suffers from smoke taint. I know many red wines have smoky nuisances, but this was beyond that.
