In the world of good value priced wine, Chile is a great place to look right now, especially for Cabernet.
This wine was only $12.89 and it drinks like it cost way more. It’s a single vineyard wine too so offers a nice expression of the land.
The wine achieved a 91 point rating from Suckling and looks to be around $16 everywhere else, so Costco’s price is on point.
This wine comes from the Colchagua Valley which just consistently over delivers every time we taste a wine from here.
Located about two hours south of Santiago, the Colchagua Valley is known for producing world class Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Carmenere, Malbec, and Syrah. And for the time being, at really great prices.
This wine pours a medium ruby in the glass. Fresh aromatic floral nose, medium plus in body, not too huge in the mouth which I like. But packed with flavor, mostly red fruit, raspberry, cherry and a bit of plum.
Grippy and juicy into the finish.
A really amazing bottle for the price. You won’t find this quality of juice under $15 from many other regions.
