Look what’s back in stores and right on time. We usually see the Kirkland Cotes De Provence Rose hit stores in the July 4th timeframe.
And be aware, these bottles move fast. Like really fast. We wouldn’t be surprised to see them cleared out in the next few weeks. So if you’ve enjoyed it in the past, and/or find this review compelling, you might want to stock up.
Right off the bat, you’ll note the price has stayed the same (for the most part, actually 10 cents cheaper). Two vintages ago, it had climbed to $9.99, and then it came back down for some reason.

I guess many of you agree, which is why this one moves through stores so fast.
This year’s blend is slightly different than the previous vintage. It consists of 43% Grenache, 28% Cinsault, 10% Syrah, 8% Vermentino, 5% Carignan, 4% Ugni Blanc and 2% Mourvedre. Last year’s blend had a little Tibouren in it. It is the same winemaker as year’s past.
Our tasting notes year to year are very similar. So as you can guess, this new vintage is a big time winner, once again.
The wine is a pale salmon on the pour with strawberry, red berry and white peach flavors; light tanginess, super crisp. Right on par with previous vintages, and probably one of the best Kirkland buys we’ll see in stores this year.
As we said before don’t wait. If you like French rose or have enjoyed this one in the past, stock up when you can. The price is right, it’s drinking perfectly, and it pairs really well with the summer season. Cheers.

I generally only like rosé of Pinot noir but this is plentiful right now in So Cal so I decided to try it. Better than the Rodney Strong rosé of Pinot noir I picked up on the same visit. I’ll be back to buy more this week. Thanks for a great blog.

@Susan Bristol, this is so interesting. I have loved the Rodney Strong but found this edition of the Kirkland essentially undrinkable. It almost tasted spoiled. One other comment alluded to a similar experience. I wonder if something happened during regional shipping.

And if your local Costco is out of Kirkland Rose you might try the Le Tremble 2020 Rose. A 3 liter box is normally $13.99, already a bargain. The Tucson NW Costco has it for $7 off right now. That's $6.99 ($1.75 per bottle) for Item 1556619. They still had several hundred boxes yesterday, July 21.
It's one of the best cheap French rose wines I've tasted, not much nose and a bit light, but refreshing. Dry, with no off flavors. Imported from France and boxed in the USA to keep the cost down.

Hi I know that some readers of the blog will use the item number that we list at the end of the reviews. They will either call the store and ask if they have that item number in stock. Or they will use the online chat at Costco.com to ask about the availability of the item numbers near them.

We always liked the previous Kirkland Rose, but the 2021 tasted a bit different. Less fruity and a bit more bland. My wife noticed it as well and we will not be buying more of it. Curious if other people have similar experience?

@Jon, I was really excited when I saw this in stock and bought 1/2 a case rather than my normal two-bottle introduction. I will return them if possible. I’ve tried two bottles, in case something was up with the first, and the wine just tastes bad. It’s not enjoyable - maybe to the point of undrinkable. Something is off and it’s noticeable to everybody who tried it at my house.
