It’s been a while since we’ve seen Kris in stores. For a while, it was a staple in the white wine section. Then it fell off the map for a bit, at least around the stores we frequent.
So we were happy to see it again, and coming in at $8.99 which is $1 or $2 less than most other outlets we saw online. Retail appears to be around $12, and we did see it at Total Wine for $9.27.
Kris is one of the Pinot Grigios that flies under many people’s radar. If you’re in the know, it’s a solid buy under $10. Otherwise, you could very well pass it by as a cheap Pinot Grigio with a cool label.
But this is the real deal from Italy’s’ Della Venezie DOC which is world renowned for its Pinot Grigio. It’s on fine display here with this 2023 vintage.
In the glass the wine pours a pale yellow, with subtle aromas of citrus and honey; medium in body, crisp and refreshing with nice acidity; mid palate there is more flavor of citrus, honey, lime, and apricot; delicious finish.
This is really a stand out white wine at a solid price; maybe even better than we remembered. Even if you don’t think you like Pinot Grigio, give this a shot and see if it changes your mind.
