2020 Luis Duarte Rubrica Vinho Regional Alentejano

2020 Luis Duarte Rubrica Vinho Regional Alentejano

Absolute deliciousness from this red blend from Portugal. Regular readers know we love the quality and value you can find in Portuguese wines today, and we are always hoping to see more of them at Costco.

We were introduced to this bottle from an importer / distributor we’ve met through this site. We typically don’t review a lot of samples, preferring to buy everything ourselves. But sometimes, like this, a wine comes along that we want to get a taste of and review so we can share with readers.

It sounds like distribution is mostly in Western states and moving to the Midwest, so not sure if or when we will see it in the Southeast.

But for those of you who can find it, this is a spectacular buy for $25 at Costco, considering retail is $45.00. And the wine consistently pulls down ratings in the mid 90 range vintage to vintage.

2020 Luis Duarte Rubrica Vinho Tinto

As you can see, this is a blend of a few varietals: 40% Alicante Bouschet, 20% Touriga Nacional, 15% Syrah, 15% Aragones and 10% Petit Verdot.

The wine is a medium to deep purple in the glass, with an expressive nose of black fruit, baking spice, and earth; it is full in body with chewy tannins; big bold flavors of blueberry and blackberry; a touch of mint; dry throughout into a beautiful, lasting finish.

Lots to like here, and hard to beat for $25. We’ll be adding to our recommended wine list for sure.

Opinions of the reviewer do not necessarily reflect those of CostcoWineBlog.com as a whole, and reviewers are not paid for their reviews by wineries or their affiliated distributors. We at CostcoWineBlog.com believe that wine preferences and opinions are often subjective and highly individualistic. Our scores are based on our individual perception of a wine and how well it reflects the area in which the grapes are grown, the expression of the grapes, and also the quality of the finished product.
