Here's a new Bordeaux hiding among the cheap seats that needed to be tasted given it received a nice 92 point rating from Wine Enthusiast and is selling at Costco for only $6.99.
We love discovering and tasting these inexpensive, and often high quality, European wines that seems to sneak in among the boxes of the usual Costco wine suspects.
And this one paid off; not a 92 point wine, but it's not far off in our opinion, making it an absolute steal for only $6.99.
Classic Bordeaux across the board (from the far Eastern part of Bordeaux) in a blend that is likely Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cab Franc.
The wine is a medium ruby in the glass, pleasant aromas of dark fruit, earth and tobacco; medium in body with tight tannins that are starting to soften; nice fruit flavor, dark fruit mostly, blackberry, plum; lingering dusty dry finish.

Quite a nice little drink, simple but just what you want, and a very good find at this price point.
In this same price range, you can always pick up the Kirkland Bordeaux Superieur, but we're going to score this one a point higher. It's a good everyday bottle to pop on the table with a wide variety of cuisine.

There were 2 and a half cases left at my Costco last November. I did some quick research and figured it couldn't be too bad, so I took a case home. I was pleasantly surprised - and wish I had picked up the other case. It's a very drinkable, daily driver Bordeaux. Agree with your 89 point score.
