2019 Quinta do Portal Mural Reserva Red Douro

2019 Quinta do Portal Mural Reserva Red Douro

We won’t beat around the bush here; this wine is a huge value find if you see it at your Costco.  The Douro region of Portugal just delivers every single time, and you can’t always find wines from there at this affordable of a price.

Costco brings this wine in at $9.99, and it appears to have a retail around $15.  You can see the accolades all over the Costco placard.  92 points from Wine Enthusiast, and also #18 on Top Best Buys.

And we can see why this wine would garner such praise.  It’s a tasty little treat for under $10, not something you come across every day.

In the glass, the wine pours a medium purple with ripe dark fruit on the nose; the wine is medium to medium plus in body, youthful and juicy in the mouth.  Flavors of dark fruit, blackberry, blueberry, some dark chocolate; it’s acidic and dry in the finish.

You might want to stock up on this one if you like Douro reds and/or this sounds up your alley.  Once word gets out, I have a feeling these are going to move fast.  I’m going back this week to hopefully score a few more myself.

I agree with the 87 score on the Douro. It may be a value among its peers but there is nothing exceptional about the wine. I bought six bottles based on the review but would not recommend anyone else follow my actions.

The Quinta do Portal Mural Reserva Red Douro landed at the Roseville (Detroit), Michigan store. I left with a case. Thanks!

Mural already sold out at Davenpot, Ia. store. Got a bottle and went back for more. Too late ☹️

Your point rating on the Douro doesn't match your accolades at all.

Does anyone know if we will get the Willamette Valley Pinot Noir from Sarah Cabot back this year? I look for it every time I go to Costco
