This is a nice treat for only $10 at Costco. It’s a standard GSM (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre) blend from France’s Languedoc region. We last reviewed the 2011 Grenache/Syrah blend from Gerard Bertrand, which I also enjoyed very much especially for its $10 price tag. Many readers agreed, and I think those same readers will find a lot to like here.
Floral and dried fruit aromas on the nose; pours a deep, dark purple; medium to full in body with gripy tannins towards the finish. Flavors of dried fruit, plum, with black tea and subtle pepper spice.
This is great at this price but I wouldn’t pay much more as the finish leaves a bit to be desired and the flavor profile is rather simple. But that said, if you’re looking for an everyday, food friendly, versatile red blend for under $10, this fits the bill.
