I was excited to find this bottle priced at $16.99 at Costco. At the time, I knew it was typically much more and after searching online I found the regular price tips closer to $26-$28 with a few online outlets going down to $20 [NOTE 7/24: we’ve been informed by readers that some Costco stores are carrying this for $22 now.] I’ve visited Stags Leap Wine Cellars multiple times (love their SLV Cab), and knew this was a bargain not to be missed. I only bought two bottles, but plan to head back and grab a few more after greatly enjoying it. As a bonus 2012 was a great growing year in Napa.
The wine begins with citrus and stone fruit, floral aromas. Nice juicy fruit flavor, pineapple, apple, apricot, more grapefruit toward the finish as the crisp acidity takes hold. Definitely a little stoniness, mineral as the wine sits in. Finishes nicely. This is not an overbearing Sauvignon Blanc at all – perfect for summer fare. I’d like to try with some white fish, maybe Halibut. The tartiness sticks on the finish, making it a joy to drink with food. A nice wine overall, a good buy at Costco and one that I will add to our Top Picks list.
