I really enjoy Albarinos in the summer so I was excited to see one from the famed Rias Baixas region in Spain for only $9.99 at Costco. At most wine shops Albarinos from the same area start closer to $15 and many approach $20-$25. So this was a good buy right out of the gate, and after tasting the wine, I’m going to be buying a few more of these for the summer months.
This wine tasted just like I expected, and hoped, it would; signature Albarino that’s just crisp and vibrant. Citrus fruit, some apricot and apple, pear notes, with strong acidity; the wine is super tarty in the mouth but not too sweet, with a pretty good finish. There’s a touch of wood on the finish that adds a nice element. All in all, a solid Albarino for $10, and one that white wine fans should give a look.
