Alright, here we are back with the latest Kirkland Chianti Classico, historically a bottle that has shown up in the bottom ranks of the Kirkland wines for us.
We were lucky to see the Kirkland Gran Selezione hit Costco shelves recently for its second vintage, which drastically upped the quality of the Italian side of the Kirkland wine portfolio.
We've still seen a few of those bottles lingering around in stores, so while it's a bit more expensive, it is a serious bump in quality from this Riserva.

This bottle at least stayed the same price at $8.99, and it remains almost purpose built for midweek pizza night, not much more.
Here are our reviews going all the way to the 2013 vintage.

This new 2022 vintage is right along the same lines.
The wine pours a pale ruby in the glass; rustic and leathery on the nose; good acidity and mouthfeel but fruit is a bit disjointed; flavor is there, some black cherry, plums, licorice, but balance leaves something to be desired; firm tannins, dry and mediocre in the finish.

Again, pizza night under $10, check. Otherwise, we'd recommend perusing the Costco shelves for another of their delightful Italian red selections.
