Here’s a new Albarino at Costco and boy are we glad we scooped this one up. This is perhaps the best Albarino we’ve ever bought at Costco (and a top pick even elsewhere).
Costco’s price is only $11.99, which is fantastic for these Rias Baixas whites that seem to just keep going up in price. Retail appears to be around $19, and the wine scored a hefty 91 points from Wine Enthusiast which we feel is spot on.
This is a bottle that we would love to see become the “Kirkland Albarino Rias Baixas” someday. And maybe with Costco’s buying power they could bring that price under $10 which would be insane. Then release it in the early summer, and these would fly off the shelf.
Getting into the wine, it pours a medium straw yellow in the glass; it has a bright floral nose with citrus fruit; nice acidity, medium body; flavors of green apple, peach, little pineapple with some mineral notes in the finish.
This wine is truly delicious and one of our current favorites; maybe a slight step up from the also memorable Adegas Tollodouro Albarino we tasted and thoroughly enjoyed a few years back. Go get these.
