It’s been several years since we’ve seen this Riesling from Trimbach in Costco stores. And it’s too bad because it’s a delicious find from a consistently strong producer.
We’ve enjoyed countless bottles from Trimbach over the years; this Riesling of course but also their Pinot Blanc; and then if you climb up in price, their reserve wines and special cuvees get really good.
Costco’s price has risen since we last reviewed this wine with the 2017 vintage four years ago. At that time it was $16.99. Now at $19.99 at Costco it’s about the same as you will find it from other outlets.
It remains a delicious bottle regardless, well worth the $20 price tag. This is not a sweet Riesling either. The alcohol level is 12.5% which is a good gauge to the sweetness. Generally 11% or up is dry or off dry. And those are the ones we prefer, and love.
The wine is a medium straw color in the glass; floral aromas with citrus fruit; medium in body, nice texture; white peach, lemon, pear and grapefruit flavors; good acidity, clean and crisp finish.
This is a really nice wine, packaged just right, that white wines fans will adore. If you hesitate to buy Riesling because you’re worried about the sweetness, you’re missing out on fantastic wines like this. Give it a shot.
We’re going to keep our rating the same with this 2021 vintage at a solid 90 points.

2017 was a little too tart. 12 is good. Hope it's not tart. No mineral notes is a bad sign as is crisp.
