2021 Cristom Mt Jefferson Cuvee Pinot Noir

2021 Cristom Mt Jefferson Cuvee Pinot Noir

Here’s a new Willamette Valley Pinot Noir that showed up in Costco stores near us.

It’s not an inexpensive bottle, coming in at $36.99 at Costco, which is about what you will find it for at other outlets, including Total Wine who carries it for $38.99. Retail appears to be in the low $40’s.

This wine has an unbelievable critic scorecard (see below) over the years, first evidenced by the whopping 95 points for the 2019 vintage from Wine Advocate. A quick Google search turns up a whole list of 90+ points over the years.

That’s an impressive run of 90+ point scores for a wine under $40

So let’s see what this one is all about.

It pours a pale ruby in the glass with red fruit and earth on the nose; flavors of cherry and red berries; a little vanilla into the finish; soft in the mouth. Lots to like here.

This is a classy, delicate, gentle wine that’s not overbearing; Burgundian in approach for sure, and certainly a wine that that we can get around. We’ll be placing on our Top Picks list and giving it a solid 91 point rating.

First, I haven't seen this at the other Atlanta-area Costcos. Great find, and fits the void created when Domaine Drouhin was no longer available (same general price).

Depending on the case/bottle - and I had this over a year ago - I rate this higher than 91. While we've had it for years, the latest vintage(s) - 2020 was great too - are really good.
