We are big fans of the Oberon Cabernet that we found at Costco earlier this year; so naturally, we were excited to find this Chardonnay arrive in our Costco store.
Costco’s price was $15.99, which is the same price you can find this bottle for at Total Wine. On Wine.com it’s $20.
I usually like to see Costco wines come in under the Total Wine price so $12-$13 at Costco would be ideal in my opinion.
In the glass the wine is a medium gold; citrus fruit and vanilla on the nose; it is medium in body and nicely balanced. Flavors of green apple, apricot and pear with a little vanilla cream leading into the finish.
Overall a light, clean and accessible Chardonnay that I think will please a lot of white wine fans, not just Chardonnay lovers. This one’s easy drinking, perfect on its own on a warm day or you could pair with lots of different cuisine.
I think the Oberon Cabernet is a better buy at Costco, but both wines are good buys. For the exact same price of the Oberon Chardonnay ($15.99), I’d still pick the Willamette Valley Vineyards Dijon Clone Chardonnay that we just reviewed and scored 90 points.
