Finding this bottle was a pleasant sight for us in the Costco wine aisles. We have previously reviewed the 2014 vintage of this wine and really enjoyed it.
You can see by the Costco placard this bottle has received a string of 90+ point ratings, including 90 points from us on the 2014 vintage. 2016 was a very good vintage in Rioja too so we had high hopes for this new one.
As we noted before, retail price seems to be around $30, so Costco’s price is amazing and it was nice to see it hold steady at $14.99.
The wine starts with subtle dark fruit and spice on the nose; it is medium plus in body, very elegant and smooth throughout; soft tannins with flavor of black cherry, dark berry fruit. Finishes nice with some vanilla notes and mild oak.
We’re going to bump up our rating to 91 as this wine, like so many from Spain right now, was very impressive and well made; and the $15 price point is a nice Costco bonus.

Sounds like a good deal, tho I discount Suckling's ratings by several points. I drink a lot of tempranillo based wine and they tend to be one of the great deals of the wine world. Since the drop in value of the Euro, wine prices from Europe haven't risen yet. I generally like to hold my Reservas for 10 years or more, it always pays off big. Costco wines sell for a dollar less per bottle out here in wine country than they seem to cost in Atlanta -- so while your housing costs are twice as high here, wine is cheaper :-)f steve

Every Costco has a slightly different selection of wines here in the Pacific Northwest. Some wines you seem to see everywhere. Others are selective to certain Costco stores. Not all wineries produce huge amounts of wines, enough to be able to supply all Costco's. What this blag does is discuss the wines found in the Atlanta area. It's different than here for sure. Even so I still enjoy the read as I occasionally fine a featured wine at our store. I love this sight with it's wine reviews, and tight realistic ratings. For me, it's a suggestion to try the wine or not if it's available at my store. I have simple tastes with wine. I prefer all wines that are not bitter, red or white. I do not care for sweet, but semi sweet is OK at times. If it tastes good I drink it. If not, I pour it down the sink. Yes, I do know the difference between really good and average. On occasion I do splurge on quality, but not often. Please accept my humble opinion. Enjoy a glass, life is short.

Do wish Costco would show which wines are available where.

@Edward, If you call your local Costco and provide the ID# listed above for each wine they can tell you if they have it OR if you are going to the store anyway walk up to the customer service desk at the entrance or to the small "desk" where the check out lines are located. They'll look it up for you.
