2015 Complicated Chardonnay Sonoma Coast

Published: Mar 18, 2017 by Editor ·

Here's a Chardonnay that seems to be in quite a few Costco stores around the Atlanta area, and it's a nice buy for $16. This wine is super food friendly, which is how we enjoyed it, paired with a moderately spicy stir fry (I typically enjoy a good Riesling with spicy foods, but this wine held up nicely).  I think it really could go with about anything.

The wine is floral on the nose, fresh in the mouth, refreshing with vibrant fruit flavor; lots of apple, apricot and peach, followed by cream, butterscotch and vanilla with a touch of oak.  Nicely balanced here overall.  There's a lasting butterscotch note on the finish.  The wine is medium in body and it starts fruity but ends more on the creamy side.

A nice Chardonnay for $15.99 (it's closer to $20 at most places online), and certainly one that I would go back to.  Costco is carrying quite a few nice Chardonnays in this price range.  We also like the Arsonist, and the True Grit Reserve Chardonnays, if you happen to see those in your warehouse too.
