2010 Gordon Estate Columbia Valley Merlot

Published: Sep 1, 2014 · Modified: Feb 12, 2021 by Editor ·

2010 Gordon Estate Columbia Valley MerlotI realized it had been a while since we reviewed a Merlot so I was excited to find one from Columbia Valley for $14.99 on my latest trip to Costco.  This wine really surprised me, and I'm generally more of a Merlot lover than hater anyway, but this is really a nicely assembled wine with a little age that is drinking rather well right now.

The wine has a little cherry candy aroma to the nose surrounded by pepper; in the mouth it exudes dark fruit, black currant, a touch of anise; finish is dusty and lasting.  It's a pleasant wine to drink, rich throughout with the heft to pair with steak and the finesse to enjoy with grilled chicken (we did the latter with roasted red peppers and feta).

This is a winner on Costco shelves right now.  At $14.99, if you haven't had a good Merlot in a while, it's a drop in the cart.
