We were surprised and delighted to find the next vintage of this Kirkland bottle. It was almost a year ago when it made its debut with the 2022 vintage.
We weren't sure if it had mainstream staying power, but it appears it may. Vacqueyras is a region in southern France, situated right next to Gigondas, and is a nice Rhone Valley choice for a Kirkland branded wine.

We are also happy to see the price stay consistent at $11.49, a very good bargain for wines from this area which usually start at $20 and can go up quite a bit from there.
The varietal makeup is the same as the prior vintage clocking in at 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, and 10% Mourvedre.
In the glass, the wine pours a deep ruby with aromas of dark fruit, herbs and spice; full bodied with mostly dark fruit flavor of blackcurrant, blueberry, black cherry; earth and spice notes with underlying anise into the finish.
As we've noted in the past, and as it states on the back label, this wine demands a decant. If you taste upon initial pour it is bitter and off-putting, but just 20 minutes or so in the decanter and the wine really shows its true self.
In the end, right where we expected this one to land so another 88 points from us this year. If you enjoyed the previous vintage, you will love this one too.

I loved this wine last year, so was excited to see it again. Purchased one bottle and quality was the same as last year (as stated above). Plan to return and purchase several more. A nice sleeper find!
