2014 Kirkland Signature Ti Point Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

Published: May 29, 2015 · Modified: Feb 12, 2021 by Editor ·

2014 Kirkland Signature Ti Point Marlborough Sauvignon BlancReviewed by Josh L

This is the first “joint venture” wine label that I can recall seeing under the Kirkland Signature brand.  While many of these wines are produced by third parties (especially the European ones), the actual label is normally 100% Costco Kirkland Signature.

With that out of the way, the $7.99 price point was intriguing.  There are a number of Sauvignon Blancs in this range and slightly above, with every one tends to be consistent, reliable, and fresh.

After chilling for a couple of hours, we opened the bottle as we began preparing dinner.  Discounting the lack of nose due to initial temperature, the traditional Sauvignon Blanc qualities came through – fresh and clean nose with a touch of earth; grapefruit and slightly lime taste.  What differentiates this from others is the sweeter finish.  Folks who think that New Zealand Sauv Blancs finish too dry – and disturb the overall experience – will really enjoy this wine.  Even in its few trips to my home, it has converted two Chardonnay and Pinot Gris drinkers.

This is great with food, and terrific alone on a hot summer day.   So for all of the upcoming outdoor holidays and barbeques, be sure to check this out.  At $7.99 and sporting a screw top, you can’t miss.

One final note – I often get headaches from New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs, and so far haven’t from this.

I have followed this S.B. for a couple of years, and have never been disappointed. This one is right up there. It may have a slightly fainter fruit presence than '12 or '13, but it has it all. I agree, good food wine and good for sipping on a hot summer day. Great price point, too.

Allow me to agree to disagree! While the Ti has no negative issues, it has no positives as well. We did a side-by-side the other evening with some friends that just got back from a 5 yr. stint in New Zealand, so they had a real appreciation of the screw top SB's from that country.
To be fair, all three wines were under $10 and Ti came in last. Surprisingly, the Cupcake SB was tops with all 4 of us. "Nice, but no character" was the typical response. Great introductory wine as it is not offensive in any way, just pretty bland.
