2014 Kirkland Signature Series Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

Published: Jul 30, 2016 · Modified: Feb 2, 2017 by Editor ·

Here's a wine that's always a personal favorite and a popular one among readers, the KS Willamette Pinot, which comes in at $14.99, a bargain price for Pinots from this area and a pretty nice wine this year as well.

I found this wine to be incredibly well balanced and interesting, especially considering it in relation to other Pinots priced this low.  You just can't find many decent drinkable Pinots in this range, but I'd definitely put this one on the list, a sentiment I've felt in prior vintages, including the 2012 which I gave 89 points.

The 2014 is really interesting on the nose, floral, perfume with red cherry; flavors of red cherry and strawberry into dark fruit, blueberry and cola; finishes pleasant, a touch of oak, white pepper, and plum lingering in the mouth.  I found the wine really started to show itself after an hour decant, so open this one up a bit before you enjoy it.  Food pairings can be almost anything, which is just one other reason I enjoy Pinots, and Oregon Pinot at that.

All in all, solid Kirkland offering, easy drinking, good value at this price point for Willamette Pinot.

I've been waiting for your review on this since I left the comment on Facebook!! Is it possible I just got a bad bottle? Or perhaps something else I had eaten that day had affected my tastebuds. I was so excited for this wine since I love Willamette Pinot, but my bottle just tasted dull and flat, I really didn't pick up on any interesting flavors or notes. I decanted and tried over the course of a couple days and nothing really changed. Hmm I wonder if I can still get another bottle to retry, I don't remember seeing anymore on my last Costco trip. Thanks for the review!

      Hi
Maybe give it another shot if you can. I actually drank it right after a vacation where I had some insane red burgundy so I was worried about how my palate would respond to this one but I really enjoyed it. I also really enjoy the style of pinot being produced in Oregon and Dundee region. Let me know if you try another one. Andrew

My husband and I go to the Costco in Newport News Va.
We have not seen the Pinot Noir Kirkland wine by Willamette Valley.
Is it possible to by this on line?

Hi, I'm not aware of any way to buy Kirkland wines online so I'd keep an eye out in the store. This one may cycle in at some point. It's hard to know for sure. I'm still waiting on a few bottles to appear near me that other readers have found.
