Found this recently at the Apex, NC Costco for $16.49. It’s listed as a blend of 81% CABERNET SAUVIGNON, 10% MERLOT, 6% PETIT VERDOT, and 3% MALBEC and alcohol comes in at 13.5%. Grapes were picked at 24-25 brix (for comparison many Cali-cabs contain fruit picked in the high 20’s resulting in overripe fruit bombs with little acidity, AKA the “Wagner family recipe” LOL!)
It’s a very balanced, elegant and understated cab that drinks more like a Bordeaux blend than a straight up cab., I’m a fan of slightly greener, old style cabs and I’m glad to see them making a comeback. My wife and I both thought it was delicious, and went back to scoop up a few more bottles.
