Fabulous Case-Worthy Cotes du Rhone
September 15, 2018 at 7:02 pm #5514
For $6.89 I couldn’t resist trying the 2017 Kirkland Cotes du Rhone Villages. You see lots of Cotes du Rhone, but you see much less wine from the Cotes du Rhone Villages AOC. In theory, it’s made from better grapes from a smaller area. In this case, that potential is achieved big time.
The Syrah, Grenache and Mouvedre blend privide deep, generous and earthy red fruit. Terrific, saturating mouth feel. Moderate tannins and great acidity keep things going for a pretty long, smooth finish. This is something I’d gladly pay $15 for.
Definitely worth buying a case or two to have as house wine. This is one of the greatest bargains I’ve encountered.September 15, 2018 at 7:16 pm #5515

Thats always a good pick. Hope to find near me and get a review up. Glad to hear the current vintage is a winner.
(For photo uploads you just need it in a smaller file size. I had to put a limit to the size of the photos because I was hosting too many huge files)October 12, 2018 at 3:55 pm #5585

It is back and 6.99 a bottle here in Minnesota. Got 6 cases yesterday. Won’t last long.
Cheaper than Fiji bottled water!

Has anyone seen this wine around Indianapolis lately? I see in the comments that there is at least one other person from around here.November 14, 2019 at 11:12 am #7583
I tried a couple of bottles of the new vintage. I liked the previous one better, although this one still rates as a very good buy.November 17, 2019 at 7:27 am #7593
I’m in the Indy area they didn’t have any last week in Castleton. I saw it last at Michigan Rd store, but that was a few weeks ago and there weren’t a lot of cases left. You might want to call Greenwood as in the past when I’ve inquired about something I couldn’t find, they had it. Good Luck!December 17, 2019 at 11:04 am #7677
What does everyone think of wine.com as far as selection and value, I have been purchasing a good amount through them, but Costco will always be the goto.December 24, 2019 at 1:34 pm #7708
Regarding wine.com, as an online retailer they certainly have an extensive selection but typically I see them consistently 20% more expensive than many other online retailers and Total Wine, not to mention Costco. I often check them to pull up the professional reviews for a wine I may be considering but not much else. Occasionally they run some shipping deals but given their high wine prices it’s not the value you might think it is.
