About three weeks ago while perusing the wines at my local Costco, I decided to risk $6.99 on a bottle of the 2018 Kirkland Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. I really love this varietal from New Zealand and usually try anything new from there. Man, am I glad I got this!
Lean but pronounced dry, white fruit, penetrating acidity that carries the fruit and alcohol right along in perfect balance, and an extremely pleasant finish all make this one of the best wine values I’ve seen in a very long time. I returned to the store last week to buy a case.
This is a white that should be in the fridge at all times, especially in the summer. Grilled salmon, lobster, bbq’ed chicken? Bring it on. A truly brilliant example of a Kirkland superstar.
