It's always a good day and a fulfilling Costco wine shopping trip when you come across a Touraine Sauv Blanc for $12.99.
Earlier this year, we found and reviewed another bottle from this area, scoring it a fair 88 points and finding it to be pretty enjoyable.
This one is a nice step up in everything but price, landing in Costco for $12.99 which compares to a retail price of more than $30. And the wine also received a solid 92 points from Wine Enthusiast.
These Touraine bottles are excellent alternatives to the pricier wines from nearby Sancerre in the Loire Valley.
Classic French Sauvignon Blanc characteristics here, well balanced with a nice mineral element. The wine is a pale to medium yellow in the glass with citrus fruit on the nose; flavors of peach, pear, touch of grapefruit; medium bodied with nice acidity.
This one was just what we hoped it would be, and we're kicking ourselves for not buying more to have on hand.
This is a perfect white wine for the warmer months, a nice complement to summer cuisine and Costco's price is hard to beat.
