![2022 Kirkland Signature Gigondas](http://costcowineblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/IMG_1308.jpg)
A slightly late arrival on this one; we were expecting it to arrive in December as we've seen with past vintages. But glad of course to see it didn't go anywhere.
This Gigondas from the Kirkland label is always a good buy, at a rather unheard price point ($13.99) for this region. And we are happy to see the price continue to stay the same with this new vintage.

Also consistent year to year is the varietal makeup which is 85% Grenache, 10% Syrah, and 5% Mourvedre; no surprises in this classic GSM blend.
And the winemaker remains the same, Guillaume Gonnet.
This wine has pretty always much scored in the high 80s with us, and we are pretty sure we've tasted all them, going back to the inaugural 2015 vintage.
2015 87 Points
2016 88 Points
2017 86 Points
2018 88 Points
2019 86 Points
2020 90 Points
2021 89 points
Our tasting notes on this new 2022 vintage are similar to the 2021, and we'll keep the score consistent at a solid 89 points.
The wine pours a medium ruby with fruit forward aromas and earthy spice; flavors of cherry, raspberry, licorice, with a good dose of pepper, and herbs; chewy tannins, finishes about as dry as you can get.

Once again, a stellar wine at a fantastic price, exactly what we hope for and expect from the Kirkland label. And a reason we love shopping at this store.

I absolutely love this. So much so that I bought multiple bottles. I am probably partial to Southern French wines, so I would personally give it a 92-93. If the region is one of your favorites like me, stock up. It's beautiful.

I recently purchased at bottle of this Gigondas at a Phoenix area Costco. I had not seen it before and it sounds intriguing, and as you mentioned, the price point is excellent. I have not yet opened it, as I am observing a dry January! Your review confirmed my suspicion that this will be a very good wine and an awesome value. - What are your thoughts of drinking this wine soon, as opposed to letting it lay down for a few years?
Editor says
Drinking good now but may evolve over the next few years at least. We have an older one or two stashed in our cellar we’ll bring out to taste and review a little further down the line. Cheers.
