A little something different here in this Chilean Pinot Noir. We are always trying to taste and review new wines, and this one was right up our alley.
Costco's price is $24.99 which is very good considering retail looks to be $35+. And the wine pulled down a whopping 94 point rating from Wine Spectator for the 2022 vintage.
We poked around a bit but couldn't confirm if this point rating is indeed for the 2022 vintage or a typo on the Costco placard. So take it for what it's worth.
We did find a 92 point rating from Descorchados for this 2021 vintage, and we feel that is pretty accurate.
This is a big Pinot Noir housed in a bottle that weighs twice as much as a normal bottle. That's the first thing you'll notice.
Smoky and leathery on the nose, this wine is loaded with nice red fruit, strawberry and raspberry flavors; juicy, well integrated tannins; medium plus in body with some nice vanilla and spice throughout, picking up into the finish.
A delicious Pinot, definitely built to be big so fans of heartier reds might find favor here too.
