Back again, and we say thank you.
This Suscol Vineyard Cabernet from the Kirkland label is a relatively new wine in the Kirkland portfolio, but one that we’ve always enjoyed.
Sometimes these special wines will fizzle out after a few vintages, so it’s nice to see this one back in stock, and after tasting this new vintage, we hope it finds a permanent place on Costco shelves each year.
The 2021 vintage brought with it a $1 price increase, which is nominal considering you’re still getting world class grapes at a super reasonable price.
This marks the 4th vintage of this wine, and you can see, we’ve gone a consistent 91 points on the previous three.
2018 vintage: 91 points
2019 vintage: 91 points
2020 vintage: 91 points
So what about this year and the 2021 vintage? Let’s bump that score up a notch. We’ve been feeling generous lately, but the wines we’ve been tasting have just been flat out delicious.
Right off the bat you can tell the nose on this one is pointing to something special. Classic Napa aromas of dark fruit, tobacco, pencil shavings. The wine is a deep, dark ruby in color, packed with flavor in the mouth; black fruit, plum with layers of depth; succulent finish that’s dry with lingering notes of vanilla, dark chocolate and spice.
This wine is drinking 2-3X it’s price. Amazing juice and the best vintage of this vineyard we’ve tasted so far. Get these while you can because they will sell out quick, and be gone forever (unless you travel to Japan. Cheers).

Loved the ‘20 so I just ran down to my local Costco and bought the last 11 bottles of the ‘21 without having tasted yet. You guys have never steered me wrong so I trust these bottles will be enjoyable as previous vintages. Can’t hardly wait for Saturday steak night to sample with the family!

Pleasant fruity balanced. Ready to drink now. Not much of a finish. I really like it for 8$ not as much for 17$. For 2$ more just buy the Kirkland Chat du Pape if you can.

I have had two bottles of this and was disappointed twice. For a single vineyard Napa cab it is lacking depth and structure. Some pleasant bright fruit and that is all. Over priced and over rated.

@steve ball, this is how I felt about the 20. Hesitant on the 21.

Is this something I can drink right now or do you think I should wait some time? I just bought 2 of them and am wondering if I should have one now to see how it is and buy more or should I just hold the 2?

Drinking good now but could go a bit. We usually follow the plan you outline. Try one now so you know what you’ve got. Buy more and taste later to see how it develops. I wouldn’t wait on this one though because these will sell through fast.
