Just a couple of months ago, we found the latest vintage of one of our favorite California wines, My Favorite Neighbor. It was back in Costco stores for the third straight vintage and we were pumped to find it, scoring it 94 points.
The wine is produced by Booker vineyards and runs $47 at Costco. This Harvey & Harriet bottle is kind of the little brother; same producer, super tasty still and about half the price.
We found this one at Costco for $22, which is a nice price as retail is around $27. While My Favorite Neighbor is predominantly (83%) Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine splits the varietals a little differently.
The blend is 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Petit Verdot, 12% Syrah, 7% Petit Sirah, 7% Malbec, 2% Grenache and 2% Cabernet Franc.
Tasty notes are not too dissimilar; dark inky purple on the pour, aromatic nose of dark fruit and spice; nice flavor of black cherry, blackberry and plum; mix of cedar and vanilla notes in the finish; wraps up nicely with some light spice.
Solid as can be and a score for under $25. We adore wines from this producer, and hope we continue to find them at great prices at Costco.
