This Rhone Valley white was a pleasant surprise for us on our last trip to Costco. We are seeing more and more unique white wines finally hitting stores, and it’s really exciting to be able to taste through them.
Here we have a Cotes du Rhone Villages white selling for $13. Regular readers know we love Rhone wines, and you don’t see enough attention to the whites coming out of there, so here’s a good chance to dive in.
This wine is comprised primarily of Grenache Blanc with smaller parts Clairette Blanche, Viognier and Roussanne.
Online, we see a retail price of $23 but the bottle is selling for $19 so Costco’s $12.99 price reflects a pretty hefty discount.
Getting into the wine, it pours a pale to medium gold with light citrus on the nose; lovely in the mouth with flavors of lemon, peach and melon, a touch of honey, crisp into the finish.
This is a delicious summer treat for fans of these style of wines, and for those not acquainted with the wonderful white wines coming from the Rhone Valley, here’s a fairly priced bottle that is really good to give a shot.

Too bad the wines shown online are not usually in all Costco stores
