This is a new one that caught our eye. Long time readers know we love Spanish wines, especially Ribera Del Duero which is just a mecca for high quality wines at great prices. And this bottle is a perfect example.
It’s not an inexpensive wine at $28.99 but we feel it’s worth that and much more. MSRP looks to be around $65, and online we see it available for a discounted price of $39.99.
The wine also pulled down a whopping 95 points from Wine Enthusiast, and earned an “Editor’s Choice” designation. Worth mentioning because we agree it’s a winner, not quite 95 points but close.
This wine pours a deep ruby in the glass; ripe fruit, earthy on the nose; medium to medium plus in body with nice acidity; flavors are cherry, plum and (we’ll steal from the WE description) balsamic, which is spot on. Very dry, peppery in the finish.
An absolute gem of a wine that’s multi-dimensional with big mouthfeel. Pair with red meat dishes. Be sure to let it decant for a bit as it needed a little time to truly open up. An easy addition to our Top Picks list.
CostcoWineBlog.com Rating: 93 points (a Costco Wine Top Pick)

I believe Reyes winemaker created Pesquera before launcing his own incredible wines. Also the 1994 Rioja Reserva for about $18 a bottle one of the best ever. It was a steal! Price is much higher now

Where do you see the Crianza label? I see Cosecha. Did this wine spend any time in a wood barrel? Thank you.

Good point. We caught Crianza on the Costco placard in the second photo and figured because it was an ‘18 vintage that it might fit the Crianza bill for a couple years of age. But that may not be the case after all. Thanks for pointing out.

It would be a great addition to the standard commentary to hear whether a red wine is worthy of cellaring and when its peak age range might be. I know that’s very subjective but still valuable to know the opinion.

Yes Dan good comment. We will try to include our thoughts on aging for more wines. For this one, drinking very nice now. Good for another 5 years at least.
