It’s been a little while since we reviewed the Kirkland Alexander Cab. I’m not sure how we missed the past few vintages, but glad we could get back into it with the 2018 vintage that is in stores now.
Since the 2013 vintage, the price has remained the same at $9.99, and we’ve rated the past few vintages 87 points. This remains a solid buy in California Cabernet under $10, which is pretty hard to find most of the time.
The wine pours a medium to deep ruby in the glass with aromas of black tea, dark fruit and herbs; in the mouth are flavors of mostly dark fruit, some blackberry and black cherry, little mocha; good dose of acidity into a dusty finish.
This is a very drinkable and enjoyable California Cab at a solid price. It’s perfect for a mid-week meal when you need to pair with a red or can easily be enjoyed on its own.

Thank you! I love this wine and look forward to the release every year. It is my go to daily enjoyment. To Dallas I must go! Kennesaw did not have last time I checked.

Just found the new Kirkland Stags Leap there too. Hope to taste and get something up Saturday. It’s usually a winner.

Hi! Love this blog. Been following it for many years now. Do you have a spreadsheet of all the different types of Kirkland wines, their vintages and ratings? Was thinking of making one myself for just the Kirkland wines but didn’t know if you had one already.
Thanks for all you do!
