2014 Wines by Joe Pinot Gris

2014 Wines by Joe Pinot Gris

I thought this was a nice, bright and crisp white from Oregon that’s a good buy for $9.69.  We enjoyed it on one of those semi-cool evenings we get in Atlanta this time of year and it was a welcome change from many of the bigger reds that I tend to consume during the winter months.  I think this would be even more enjoyable on a hot summer day, but it’s a nice wine to make note of when you’re looking for a super affordable, easy drinking white.

The wine is nearly see through, light yellow on the pour and the nose started with some light scents of citrus fruit.  It has a nice bit of acidity in the mouth and is rather dry with flavors of pineapple, lemon and sour apple.  The wine finishes up quickly but pleasantly.  This is a perfect wine to enjoy with all types of salad and seafood, or just on its own as we did.

I’ve received a few emails lately from people who are planning weddings and want to buy a large quantity of wine from Costco.  This would be perfect for that occasion or any other large party, especially given its sub $10 price and general appeal.
