I was ready to score this one pretty low because it’s really basic and I thought I paid a lot more for it. But as it turns out, after I checked the receipt (because the bottle was written with a lot of beginner terms), I realized this wine is only $6.99 at Costco, which is a whole different ball game. For $6.99 this is a very drinkable red. I wouldn’t pay much more for it, but at that price it’s hard to complain.
We drank this wine with some grilled steak, and it held up ok. Being a 2014 vintage (young for Rioja), this wine tastes super fresh, like it was just bottled, leaving a bit to be desired with the steaks. But the more I dug into it, and especially after seeing I only paid $6.99, I warmed up to it. There’s some decent flavor for a basic Rioja, red fruit, some blueberry; finishes quickly; but for an everyday red, you could do a lot worse and spend more.

I totally agree with your comment. You can not ask for more for only $ 6.99. It is a very drinkable wine for that price.

I've really enjoyed this is as well. It gains a little complexity after the bottle has been open for an hour or two.
