2014 Concha y Toro Casillero del Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon

2014 Concha y Toro Casillero del Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon

I found this to be a decent buy for an $8 Chilean Cab.  The wine is certainly not without its faults but overall in this price range you can’t really complain.

The wine is dark, inky purple on the pour.  Campfire, toasted wood on the nose with some spice notes.  Initial flavors of black currant and dark fruit move into more dark chocolate and mocha toward the finish with a slight lingering smokiness.  Finishes dry and relatively lasting.

This is certainly drinkable as an everyday wine, but there something disjointed between the beginning and the end that’s throwing me off.  Balance is a little out of whack, but then again, for $8 what can you really expect?
