I’m liking this WA State Cab for $14.99. Over the last hour it’s developed into an expressive and rather interesting wine in this price range. I typically do enjoy Northwest reds, and went into this one with fair expectations, but have to say it certainly met, if not exceeded those. Costco’s price on this wine is very competitive too. I’ve seen this same bottle closer to $20 at my wine warehouse.
The nose opens with floral, earth and violet aromas, then serves up flavors of cherry, red licorice (more Nibs than Twizzlers), transitioning to more dark fruit with a little cocoa and cigar box towards the finish. There are definitely a few other varietals in here so I had to track those down. The wine is comprised of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 5% Malbec and 4% Cabernet Franc. This is a big, full bodied Cab at a great price. I’m going to add to our Top Picks list.
